About Sheena
SDF Attorneys is founded by Sheena De Figueiredo who was admitted as an attorney in early 2012 after serving articles at SNA Attorneys.
Sheena completed her LLB degree at the University of Johannesburg in 2010 and already knew her passion to be Family Law and Litigation.
During her articles, Sheena’s passion for Family Law grew along with an interest in Litigation and Criminal Law. She gained further experience as a Senior Associate at SN (Sam Niselow) Attorneys in Woodmead, before deciding to start her own practice after becoming a mother.
Sheena focuses primarily on divorces (both opposed and unopposed), recognition of the rights of fathers of children born out of wedlock, relocation applications (locally and internationally), applications to remove the rights of a parent and other general family law matters. She also enjoys Defamation Law, Cyber Law and assists many clients with criminal record removal applications (expungements and/or presidential pardon applications).
Sheena, being a wife and mother herself, understands the considerable human element present in all legal disputes and always aims to be sensitive to the emotions, wishes and fears of her clients as well as opponents, whilst still remaining objective and thinking clearly and strategically when the client is unable and/or unwilling to do so.
Sheena believes in obtaining the best possible result for her clients, as quickly and efficiently as possible and with as little emotional trauma as possible.
She strives to combine honesty with optimism, fairness with justice and collegiality with strategy.
